A new era for
Florida Young Democrats

CAT AND ZANE:

Fight for the future you deserve!

Fight for the future you deserve!

Learn about our priorities!

    • Reaching the Unreached
Florida Young Democrats (FYD) welcomes all Democrats under 40—but despite that, Florida College Democrats currently has more active chapters. It's time to change that.
As the Trump administration continues to attack young people, our potential audience continues to grow. Many young Floridians who want to engage in politics may not yet know FYD exists.

    • Targeting New Voters
Our priority is to reach young people who voted for the first time in the 2024 elections. Many of them may feel disillusioned, wondering if their vote really mattered. FYD is here to show them how to fight back and get involved.

    • Going Beyond Social Media
While social media is a powerful tool, unpaid digital content only reaches a fraction of our potential audience. That’s why we’ll invest in physical outreach: flyers and posters at local businesses, gas stations, community centers, clubs, and more—to connect with young people where they are.

    • Empowering Through Knowledge
Many young people are passionate—but don’t know where to begin. FYD should be a hub for civic education:

      • Host webinars and teach-ins on policy and political strategy

      • Create toolkits on how to lobby your legislators

      • Break down key legislative sessions and elections in digestible formats
Knowledge is power, and we’ll make sure our members are equipped to lead.

    • Bold Positions on Youth Issues
FYD must be a clear, unapologetic voice for people under 40. That means taking strong public stances on issues that matter to us—and demanding action from our elected officials.

    • Grassroots Input, Top-Down Impact
We’ll establish communication channels with our members through group polls and surveys to ensure FYD reflects the will of its base. Policy positions will come from you, not just the top.

    • Holding Leaders Accountable
FYD should be issuing frequent public statements on legislation, executive orders, and party actions—calling out what’s wrong and lifting up what’s right.

    • Creating a Statewide Standard
Transitions shouldn’t mean lost passwords and forgotten bank accounts. We’ll implement a universal leadership transition guide for all FYD chapters.

    • Chapter Support System
We’ll conduct an internal audit of chapter resources—bank accounts, tools, assets—to understand where support is needed most and provide assistance accordingly.

    • Support for Local Chapters
FYD’s strength lies in its chapters. We want to give them the tools to thrive:

      • Microgrants for events and campaigns

      • Templates for petitions, graphics, press releases

      • Mentorship pairings between older and newer chapters
Strong chapters = a strong FYD.

  • Setting & Meeting Goals
FYD exists to organize young people into action. We’ll work with chapters to set tangible goals:

    • Grow membership

    • Organize local events

    • Increase community engagement

    • Mobilize around key issues

  • Training Tomorrow’s Leaders
We’ll collaborate with the Leadership Development Committee within the Florida Democratic Party Youth Council to provide skill-building opportunities. Our goals:

    • Teach members how to speak to the media

    • Train on using digital tools and platforms

    • Connect young Democrats to internships and professional pathways

    • Stronger Together
We’ll expand collaboration with organizations beyond the Democratic Youth Caucuses. FYD will work hand-in-hand with:

      • College Democrats

      • High School Democrats

      • Left-leaning grassroots orgs

      • Local activist coalitions

    • Events & Coalition Building
We’ll host joint events to bring new energy and new people into the FYD space—uniting young progressives to build real political power across Florida.

    • Not Just Election Cycles
FYD must be active beyond election season. We'll develop year-round organizing plans focused on:

      • Legislative advocacy during session

      • Mutual aid and community service

      • Local government engagement
Staying visible and involved builds long-term credibility—and results.

    • Supporting Young People Running for Office
FYD should be a launchpad for young Democrats running for office. We’ll:

      • Highlight and promote young candidates

      • Offer campaign training sessions

      • Create a network of past and present candidates to share insights and resources
Representation starts with building the bench.
